lyrics
I’ve been staring death in the face. I know how it sounds but I'm not praying or panicking, just thinking out loud. Years of momentum a waste, years still in store riddled with setbacks, but from your fangs drips, “Glory be, we’re all saved”. That deaf and blind chorus must wail convincingly if what you hear is, "Retrace those hesitant steps with me." You know damn well you're not the type to let it be. You've been at this for cosmic minutes but you act like you’ve hand-built Rome. You're so concerned with what isn't. Come, friendly bombs, and carry me home. Laying in wait in the dark. Under the moon, over your narrative. Watching for first fleeting sparks. My mind has run itself into the ground. You are the sum of something less than what it is you preach. Crooked is as crooked does as crooked swears it's not, and thus far, crooked's not been open. It just hears what it wants. All that your posturing means is you won’t be there to pick up the pieces.
